Mussel Beach Health Club Policies and Club Rules


Mussel Beach Health Club designed the Membership Policies (“Policies”) and the club rules, including rules listed here and rules posted at the facility, to ensure a safer and more enjoyable environment in which to exercise. So, please be thoughtful and observe the Policies and Rules that you, and all members, have agreed to follow. Mussel Beach Health Club may, in its sole discretion, modify the Policies and Rules without notice at any time. It’s your responsibility to know and follow the most current Policies and Rules. All approved signs posted at the facility and on the premises shall be considered a part of the Policies and Rules of Mussel Beach Health Club Inc.

Mussel Beach Health Club Inc. seeks, enrolls and maintains memberships without regard to race, religious creed, color, nation origin, ancestry, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, marital status, sex, sexual orientation or age. It is further club policy that no circumstance or conduct undertaken by club personnel shall have the effect of discrimination on the basis of any of the aforementioned classifications. All club members shall have full and equal access to the club facility. All members with disabilities shall be entitled to reasonable accommodations for their physical and mental impairments. Any member who believes that he/she is/has been treated unfairly on any of the aforementioned matters should first report the club management at 508-487-0001.

Use of Mussel Beach Health Club Inc. Facilities

Access of Facilities: Mussel Beach Health Club facilities and services, including but not limited to, classes, equipment, locker rooms, showers, saunas, tanning may have limited hours, be discontinued altogether at any time, or be offered on a “first come first serve” basis. Mussel Beach Health Club reserves the right to charge a separate participation or reservation fee for any or all of these facilities or services. Use of Mussel Beach Health Club facilities or services are authorized and limited pursuant to your membership agreement.

Conflicts Regarding Use: Please don’t linger on the equipment because other members may want to use it. No member should monopolize the equipment or weights. In short, observe gym etiquette. If there is a conflict over use, let the Mussel Beach Staff or Management resolve it.

Conduct: While on Mussel Beach Health Club Inc. property and while using the facility, Mussel Beach Health Club does not permit and will not tolerate any inappropriate conduct. Such conduct includes, without limitation, using loud, abusive, offensive, insulting, demeaning language, profanity, lewd conduct or any conduct that harasses or is bothersome to members, guests, or employees.

Check In: All members are required to check-in prior to use of the facility. You must check in via your member ID and if you forgot and/or did not bring your member ID with you, you must check in with a valid picture ID at the front desk.

Locker Rooms: Mussel Beach Health Club provides lockers for members to use only while working out in the gym. You should always use a lock to protect your property. Do not leave any valuable property in a locker at any time. Mussel Beach Health Club Inc. is not responsible for any theft of or damage to your property. If you leave a lock on a locker while you’re not in the gym, Mussel Beach will consider your property abandoned and has the right to cut off the lock. If you leave your property, Mussel Beach shall have the right to donate your property to charity. Use of the locker room showers and/or sauna are at your own risk. Follow all posted rules and policies regarding use of the saunas and showers.

Dress Policy: Mussel Beach Health Club Inc. requires you to wear appropriate clothing and footwear while in its facility. General guidelines: gym shorts, t-shirts, jogging, aerobic and sweat outfits are acceptable for working out and exercising. You must wear a shirt. You may not wear jeans or street shoes while working out. No open toed shoes or sandals are allowed while working out. Absolutely no street shoes are allowed in the aerobics room at any time.

Parking Lot and Bike Rack: Mussel Beach Health Club provides parking (lot rear of building) for members to use only while working out in the gym. You should always lock your vehicle to protect your property. Do not leave any valuable property in your vehicle at any time. Mussel Beach Health Club Inc. is not responsible for any theft of or damage to your property. You must remove your vehicle from the parking lot after you are done working out and/or using the facility, Mussel Beach reserves the right to have any vehicle towed that is not removed from the parking lot in a timely manner. Any vehicle that is towed is at the sole cost of the vehicle owner.

Mussel Beach provides a Bike Rack for members to use while using the facility. The bike rack is located in the front of the building. You should always lock up your bike. Your bike must be removed after you are done working out and/or using the facility. Mussel Beach will consider your property abandoned and has the right to cut off the lock if it is not removed in a timely manner.

Lost and Found Items: Mussel Beach will store all items that are turned in as “lost” and items will be kept in lost and found for a period of no less than 10 days. Mussel Beach reserves the right to dispose of items left for longer than ten days.

Prohibited Items and Activities:

No Alcohol, Drugs, or Smoking: You cannot engage in any activity at Mussel Beach health Club while under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol. Mussel Beach does not permit smoking, alcohol, or illegal drugs, including steroids at the facility.

No Weapons: No weapons of any kind are permitted in the Mussel Beach facility.

Photos: Taking photos or filming of others is not permitted without their prior knowledge and consent, and under no circumstances is any photography or filming permitted within the locker rooms, saunas, or shower areas.

Food and Beverages: Mussel Beach reserves the right to limit the consumption of food and beverages in the workout areas.

Personal Training: No member may train another member for compensation. If Mussel Beach determines that such training occurs at the facility, the trainer and or trainee may lose their membership.

Outside Equipment: Mussel Beach reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to limit or restrict the use of outside equipment in the club.

General Policy for Minors: Mussel Beach Health Club Inc. requires that you and your minor children must follow any such Rules or Policies and pay any applicable fees. To join, all minors need the financial guaranty of a parent or guardian and the parent or guardian must sign the membership agreement.

Minors aged 14 to 17: May use Mussel Beach Facilities without being accompanied by a parent or guardian if the minor is a member and their parent or guardian has signed the financial guaranty and the membership agreement. Mussel Beach reserves the right, in its discretion, to require that a parent or guardian accompany a minor.

Membership Freeze Policy:

Qualification and Notice Requirements: Mussel Beach will only freeze your membership if you are in good standing, are current with your membership dues, provide at least a 24 hour notice and you qualify for either a medical disability leave or are active or volunteer military and have received deployment or volunteer assignment orders. For a medical leave you must provide Mussel Beach with verification from your physician stating your medical disability and that said disability will prevent you from using the Mussel Beach facility. The minimum term for a medical freeze is 1 month and the maximum is 6 months.

Violation of Polices or Rules: If any member violates any of the Policies or Rules, Mussel Beach will ask that person to stop or leave. A member’s violation of any of the Policies or Rules may also cause Mussel Beach, in its sole discretion, to suspend or terminate that person’s membership and/or other agreements.
